Tuesday 26 November 2013

Hello blog readers,
Today we have been rehearsing and practicing our christmas carols because we are performing them next week. We've been learning new moves and lyrics every lesson. Instead of doing it in front of the New World supermarket in Windsor, we have decided to do it on the streets of inner-city Invers.

Nicola says that the only people who might be watching will be an old lady and her dog! But that's fine. The songs we're singing are We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Deck The Halls, Jingle Bells and my favourite Gloria. Also Joey is singing Mary Did You Know and Liam is doing an Brumbly the elf monologue.

Deck the halls with bells of holly, fa la la la laa, la la la la... till next week,

Bye

Hello people of the world!!!!
Today at Enrich we had another session of Singing 201 and we only have two more sessions left until we make our debut performance outside the New World supermarket in Windsor. We got our solos today and I have one in Deck The Halls With Boughs Of Holly. We have put many well known christmas songs together to make a medley. We have  a lot of little dancy bits and solos in it.

This is Tessa reporting. Over and out. Till next week,

ByeBye

Crossword mayhem!!!

Hello blog readers,
Today at Enrich we were continuing our crosswords we have been making for word patterns. It is really hard to get all the words to fit in the spaces and then there is making up all the clues! First we got a piece of paper that had the spaces and numbers on it. Then we had to make the words got in the spaces using real words. Not words that don't make sense. Then after that you have to make up the clues so that people will understand and work out the answer. It has been so much fun and its something I never thought I would do.
This is what my crossword looks like now.

Burn burn burn!!

Bonjour blog readers,
Today at Enrich we had another session of affective domain to work on our gifted person study. I am so close to finishing - just a few more touch ups and typing to go.

We also started our Singing 201 rehearsals for the christmas carols with Nicola. We have a big medley to learn and everyone will be having a solo for it. Half of the songs I don't even know. We are also learning a song called Burn by Ellie Goulding. We are performing it at the leavers night for the year sixes. Like always, we had a fun lesson filled with giggles and laughter. But we only have five practices before the real thing. We are going to be wearing funny christmas costumes and hats etc. I think we will have a blast.

Me and Garageband

Aloha blog readers,
Today at Enrich we continued with our gifted person study. I am researching J.K.Rowling-the author who wrote the Harry Potter series. She is a very famous writer and novelist. I am presenting my project on a website called Prezi. I am pretty sure I have told you about it before.

We also had our last session of performance:( And its also the last day of the term at Enrich:(

In performance we got to make a song on garage band. Everyone said that my songs were awesome. I really enjoy making my own songs.

Entertain you

Hi everyone,
Today at Enrich we continued to learn our dance for our concert we are doing. We are learning it from a girl from James Hargest College called Ella, and her teacher Maria who is an old friend of Nicola's.  We are doing it to a song called "Let Me Entertain you" by Robbie Williams. We have so many moves and arm movements to remember.
See you next time!!

Writer's Studio

Hey blog readers,
Today at Enrich we started with our gifted person study and we basically just got information and facts on our person. I am doing mine on J.K. Rowling who is the author of the Harry Potter books.
We also had our last session of writers studio. Here is my mini story:
COPY STARTS
Hi!
I’m Emma. I’m 10 years old. I live in this run-down hotel thingy with my family who’s just about out of business. I have a tabby cat called Anna and she’s the cutest thing ever. My dog Poppy is a maltese powder puff and so cute too. Our family business, (as you probably guessed already) is the old run down hotel. It is basically out of business and my family is basically broke. If we don’t pay our bills we have to sell it and move on and that’s exactly what we did.

We now have a healthy and stable in the farming business. And guess what- I got a horse!!

The photo-shoot!!!

Hello everyone,
Today at Enrich we did a Multiple Intelligence survey. It is when you answer questions and at the end it tells you what parts of our brain you use. Musical came up as my best, then body movement,  and finally language which is reading and writing. It was cool to know which parts of your brain. We also had a session of Performance and we learnt a new song called "Some Things Are Meant To Be" from the musical "Little Women". We are going to be singing it at the Enrich sharing night. We also had a photo-shoot to go on the wall in the Performance corner. We took the pictures in a variety of different places using a brick wall as the background. It made me feel like a superstar.

Tuesday 6 August 2013

Hi everyone,
Its been a while since I've had a chance to talk.
Today at Enrich we started with a rotation to help us with our gifted person study. I got to do infographics with Katie. We looked at a website called Prezi.  It is website where you can present something in a cool way using different templates and tools. We got to have fiddle and make our own Prezi about any we liked. I used a desktop template and when I wrote it, it went in things on the desk like a notebook for example.

We also had a session of talent development. For performance today we got to learn how to use garageband and make our own song using the different beats and instruments. Then we shared our song with the rest of the group.

Enrich@ILT in the city

The Hunger Games review, Did you Knows?... and a warm winter recipe.

These are all my articles I am writing for the Enrich newspaper. I joined this newspaper a few weeks ago. We will be delivering the newspapers to the public at the end of the term.

I am really enjoying writing this paper. I hope that the public will like it too. It is called Enrich@ILT In The City. There are 27 people in total writing for our newspaper. Keep an eye out for it in your neighborhood.

Spatial, Psychological and Monologues!!!!
These are all different types of drama. We had different activities for each of these types and they were really fun. We started with spatial. Spacial drama is about using the space around us. First we went in groups and when Nicola called out an object we had to mack it in our groups. My favourite one was the washing machine. We also did other activities.

In performance today we were rehearsing our monologues because we are performing them for the group next week. We got to wear costumes. I am going to be wearing pig tails and a big skirt because I am a little girl who likes to dress up.

Tuesday 28 May 2013

Tooth fairy!!!

"From now on when I lose a tooth I am going to put some anti bacterial hand sanitizer under my pillow".............
That is a just a wee snippet of my monologue I am doing for performance. Everyone in the group is doing a monologue and my one is about a girl who has a tooth under a pillow and she keeps asking questions about how the tooth fairy works.  She is a curious person and asks lots of questions. I am really enjoying learning it and today I got to wear a long swishy skirt so I could pretend to be her.

A bit of fun.......

This morning at Enrich after morning tea, we had another session of performance.  We learnt a new warmup called 'Big Booty'. That is where everyone has a number and one person starts and says big booty big booty big booty rest, Big booty big booty big booty and then a number . And you say it to a clapping pattern. Then the person whose number got called out did it next and it just keeps going. We also ran over our songs don't stop me now, life on mars and like an eagle.

At the end of the session we had  bit of fun.......
Nicola bought can can skirts for the girls who are going to be doing the can can in our show. We put them all on Mia because she is the smallest and boy did she look funny. Then we got to try them on.

Week 2 Term 2

Hello blog readers,
Today at Enrich we started with a game of chess using the big chess board. We were in teams - black and white and then had a chess battle. My team (the black team) had six players on the team. We took turns each to make a move, and explain why we were moving the piece, so that we could make a game plan!  We also had another session of performance. This week we had a different teacher because Nicola was sick.I already knew Amanda because she taught at my school a few times. For performance we learnt a new song called "Like an Eagle" and we also sang our old songs too. We are doing well learning all these new lyrics to each song.

Tuesday 7 May 2013

Busy morning...

Howdy partners. I'm just kidding.
Hello blog readers,
Today at Enrich we had a lesson on chess with Katie. We were learning different strategies to help us defeat our opponent. We learnt that when you move a player without thinking! You have to have a reason why you moved it there. We went into teams and used the big chess board.

Today we also talked about the Renzulli's model of giftedness. He believes that there are three things you need to make you gifted. They are task commitment, creativity and above average ability. But this model is only one person's opinion.

Tuesday 16 April 2013

Performance........my favourite time of day. I grabbed my workbook out of my tote tray and ran to the performance corner. I was bubbling with excitement and had butterflies because we never know what to expect with Nicola.

We got ready for our warmups. We started with clapping to the beat using the keyboard. Next we everyone's favourite warmup - what should we do? That is where we have to move our bodies on the word "should".

After that we did the beans games which I told you about last week. Then we learnt three new songs for our show that we will be doing in Wachner Place. They are; Don't stop me now by Queen, Taller, stronger, better by Guy Sebastian and Oh My by Gin Wigmore.

What an exciting day!!!

Talent development and keynote refresher!!

Gidday matey!

No I am not in Australia but I would like to be....

Today at Enrich we did another session of talent development. This week for performance we learnt new body and vocal warm-ups and a new song. The song was called River Deep, Mountain High performed by the Glee cast. We sang it three times to learn it, then we started dancing to it. At Enrich today we also did a keynote refresher and we learnt how to use keynote. Keynote is a program on a apple computer where you can do presentations and things like that. I learnt how to add in build ins and outs and transitions.
Bye!!:)

Talent development!!

Hey blog readers,
We started our talent development sessions today. I chose performance with Nicola.  The aim of this group is to go out and perform in public. We had ten minutes to prepare a one minute performance to show to the performance group. We could sing, dance, act, say a poem and do anything you wanted. I chose to sing with Mia and we sang 'Not Over You by David Guetta.

Hope you had a good easter,
Bye until next week!!

Patterns field trip!!

Aloha blog readers,
Today at Enrich we went on a trip to queen's park. We went looking for patterns in our surroundings or environment. We were looking for patterns of beauty, order, strength and survivability or the way I remember it B.O.S.S. On the way on the park we were also looking for patterns. Some of the patterns Katura and I found were bricks-bricks are a pattern of strength, survivability and order. We also went to the rose gardens and took pictures of flowers because flowers are a pattern of beauty and survivability. At the playground there is a basket swing and it is a pattern of strength, order and beauty. It is a pattern of strength because the strong metal poles holding it up and the chains letting it hang and it is a pattern of order because of rows of black rubber. I really enjoyed this trip.

Hey blog readers,
Three word stories, colour lines, unfortunately and fortunately and musical bumps. These are the names of the drama games that we played at Enrich today. I enjoyed playing these games. They were hilarious, enjoyable and fun.

In the game three word stories you have to sit beside two people and each person has to say one word and the story has to make sense.

Unfortunately and fortunately is when you  get in pairs and one person says a sentence and the other person says but fortunately blah blah blah and then the other person says but unfortunately blah blah and so then it goes on.

My favourite game was musical bumps. It is like musical statues but when the music stops you have to sit on the floor with your legs and arms crossed.

The last game was colour line. It was like a memory game. Six people stand in a line and they each have a colour and they have to say their colour out loud. Then the audience has to close their eyes while the people with colours change their order. Then someone from the audience has to try say the order and if they get it correct they get a colour and then it goes from there.
Bye everyone, have a great week:)

Caine's Arcade!!!

Hey blog readers,
Today at enrich we watched a video about this 9 year old boy called Caine and he made an arcade out of cardboard boxes. It all stared when he had to go to his dad's work for the summer holidays. He had won a small basketball hoop at a real arcade and just started making them from there. A man came to Caine's dad's shop to buy a door handle and he bought one of Caine's fun passes (which gives you 5 hundred turns) he thought this is really cool. He made a video about Caine and his arcade and posted it on YouTube and he also organised a flashmob for Caine! There was a 4 hour wait to have a turn on the games! To find out more, watch the video on YouTube. Search up Caine's Arcade.

Wilson game!

Hello everyone,
Today we had another action-packed day here at Enrich. We started off with a Wilson game called the hoop game. I really enjoyed playing it.These are the instructions:

  • you have 3 or 4 people in a team
  • you need a hoop per team and put that hoop about three meters in front of the team
  • the teams have to jump with their feet together and hold hands the hole time
  • the teams start at the same time and when the referee claps and says 'jump' they all have jump at he same time
  • the referee might trick you and say jump or they might just clap so be careful and if you fall for it your team has to go back to the start
Aim of the game:
The aim is to be the first team to get into the hoop!!!

Second day of Enrich!!

Hi everyone,
Today was the second day of Enrich for the year. We started the day off with a Wilson game called Piccadilly circus. We made a high score of 28 seconds with three balls. We also started our concept curriculum which by the way is patterns. We did a 1, 3, 6, group task where we wrote down our ideas and what we knew about patterns, then went into threes and joined our ideas together and then went into groups of six and wrote all of our ideas on a big piece of paper. Another thing we did was a, I am poem. You had to finish the sentences that were on the paper. We did this activity so that the teachers at Enrich get to know us.
