"Santa Claus is coming to town......."
Oops sorry I was just singing a Christmas song. Because I joined the Performance group. We were getting into the Christmas spirit(even though its only November).
It was really fun. We choreographed our own dance for 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town'. I really enjoyed singing and dancing together with everyone. Also Mia and I have come up with the 'Shim Sham"(Our very own dance move).
Today I also participated in P4C(Philosophy For Children) and our question was 'What has changed from when our ancestors were living and is it better now or then?

Thats all for today blog readers.
Until next time,
Tessa

Do you ever wonder about the brain?

Do you ever wonder about the brain?

Well I know I do.
I have always wondered what side of the brain I use for different things. I love doing dance and music and I found out that for those things it is the temporal lobe and the cerebellum that I use. I have enjoyed learning about the brain and am keen to find out more and more each week. Today we were mainly learning about the parts of the brain and what we use them for.

Also today it Katie's last day with us because she is having a baby. (I really hope it is a girl).
I will really miss her and her days that she makes fun and makes everyone want to learn. Thanks for everything Katie!!

Until next week,

Hello Blog Readers,
Today was an awesome day. We finished our CD. We called it Neon!
Paul found this really cool cd cover that you put on the cd to give it a high gloss finish.I'm glad that we are nearing at the end and getting a good result.

We also are adding the finishing touches for our presentations that we are presenting next week. Next week is the spring fling and I am dressing up in green because I am Irish. We also have to bring a taster of a dish from the country our family originated from so I am going to bake some Irish tea cake.

Here is what the CD looks like now.

Blog ya next week,
Tessa:)

Hello blog readers,
Today I have the answer for the riddle I put on my blog last week.
Here is the riddle and the answer:
I have streets but no pavement,
I have cities but no buildings,
I have forests but no trees,
I have rivers yet no water.

The Answer is drum roll please....................
is a Map ladies and gentleman. Yes a map!!

Also more exciting news. The Spring Fling is in two weeks!! I'm really looking forward to it. All the dressing up, presenting and most importantly trying the foods from different countries.
For my project I am almost finished my presentation and am just doing the finishing touches before the big day.
Until next time,
Bye,

Active Inspire and CDs

Hello everyone,
I just logged into my computer because it was so slow today. It  literally took forever.
Today at Enrich we had Passion time! We completely changed the design of our CD cover on Active inspire. Anna and I made our own for starters and then combined some elements from each one to made an awesome one.

We also had strength based extension. We have learnt so many things that helped us make our songs better and easier to make.

See ya next week,
Tessa
P.S. See if you can solve this riddle.
I have streets but no pavement,
I have cities but no buildings,
I have forests but no trees,
I have rivers yet no water.

What am I?
I'll tell you the answer next week!!

Have you ever thought about making your own CD from Garageband?
I didn't either until I'd had a starter session with Nicola in Performance last year.

Now Anna and I are on the home straight with our passion project and we are nearly finished our own CD. We created the very last two songs for the album and make a appropriate list in order so that we didn't have many of the same genre or style together.

This afternoon we had art and I normally hate doing art because i'm such a perfectionist and I keep rubbing it out and starting again. But because we did Picasso portraits that are abstract so can't be right or wrong.
This is what they look like:

Superstar In The Making!!

Hello blog readers!
Today was my time in the limelight. Well,  not really but Anna and I did an interview for Kady and Olivia's passion project which is making the Enrich@ILT news. But getting back into my time at Enrich Anna and I started designing the CD cover for our CD of garageband songs that we have been working on. We are making it on active inspire (A program on apple computers) and are having a black background with lots of neon and bright colours covering the back and front.

We also had strength based extension with Jenni and I'm doing Garage band- of  course:)
Each week we are building our knowledge of making and using garage band to create pieces of music.
See Ya,
Tessa :)

Talofa bloggers!
So far it has been an action-packed day!
We started a new 4 week lot of sessions that we chose what we wanted to do. I chose Garageband with Paul so I could get some tips and tricks to help with Anna and I's passion project ,which is making our own album of Garageband songs. Hopefully, I can put some songs from the album on my blog for you guys to see.  We have made almost half of our songs for the album. About 6 originals and 2 remixs.
Tessa's tips and tricks we learnt:
How to change the tempo or speed of the song.
How to and where to get free apple loops for Garageband.
See ya next week,
Tessa.

Stress and Tannenbaum's Star

Do you ever dread school tests or exams or do you have something worrying you and you can't get to sleep at night?
Well here are some things that we learnt to do when we are feeling stressed and can't get things off your mind.
You can take deep breaths to calm yourself or exercise to get some fresh air and take your mind off the thing you're stressing about. Another thing is to have fun and be social and talk to people.
We also were learning about Tannenbaum's model of giftedness which is the five pointed star model. It says you have to have each thing that on each point of the star to be called gifted in a area of talent but you don't have to have equal amounts of each.

You learn something new everyday!

Howdy folks,
It is nearly the end of the day here at Enrich ILT and we have been working on our discovering your past projects. I found out that one of my Nana's cousin won a gold at the 1972 Olympics. Well they do say you learn something new every day and I did.
We also carried on with passion projects. Anna and I created 3 more of our original songs and one remix. We are really coming along with our songs. We are learning how to use Garageband and how to make songs. It's also my last blog post for the term:(

See ya after the holidays,
Tessa

Aurasma, Google, Wordle!!!

      Kia ora everyone,
Today was another busy day at Enrich. We are well under way with our passion project and just recently started our discovering your past project. I attended all of the research and presentation tool workshops with all three teachers. With paul we were looking at Aurasma, which is an app for apple and android. With Nicola we were doing quick and easy tips on researching things on google. Finally, with Katie we were learning to use wordle. I have learnt some great new research and presentation. We also had to write a mid year reflection. But least it was only 4 questions and not 4 pages like last year.
See ya next week,
Tessa:)

A little bit Stressful!!

Hey Blog Readers,
Today at Enrich@ILT, it was a little stressful as we were started our passion project.
Anna and I were calling Djs and music makers for our project. That was the stressful part as all of them either didn't make their own music or they loaned their music gear out to people to use. But......
Paul gave us an awesome idea to call the audio production students at the S.I.T to see if we could have a visit there to see how they make their music.
We rang them but there was no answer so we are going to try again at lunchtime.
We can tell you what happens in two weeks when we're back here at Enrich@ILT.
Bye,
Tessa

Dj Tessa in the house!!

Howdy ya'll,
This week has been another jam packed day at Enrich. We have started our passion project. DJ Ann and I are going to make a cd of very our original garageband songs and design the cover. Hopefully we will be able to put it on itunes and become world famous-maybe!!.

Katie revealed the next project we are going to do in Discovery. We are going to be doing a project on discovering our past and what and how our family arrived in New Zealand. We also have to make a family tree and learn about our families culture and what we celebrate. I'm really looking forward to it!!
See Ya All Next week,
Tessa!!!

Busy as beavers!!

Hello Blog readers.
This is my first blog post for the term. I've missed you all.
So far today we've been as busy as beavers. Starting with a brief around passion projects, a quick fast game of chess and personal development rotations.

For personal development (formaly known as affective domain), I did Gayne and Renzulli's models of giftedness and just recapping on what they mean.

Passion Project planning started today. Anna and I are going to do a cd full of songs that we will make on garage band. Then we are going to design and make the cd cover. We are hoping that when we finish it, we can put it on itunes so you guys can listen to it!!

See ya next week!!

Brain Workout!!!

Howdy Y'all!!!!!
Today is the last day of Enrich for the term:(
So that also means its the last blogpost for the term.
Today we were mainly just finishing up some Discovery tasks. But.............
My favourite thing we did was brain training, that means to sharpen up our brains. Or as I call it a brain workout. We had this website that we got to explore, that had brain training exercises on it. I was doing an exercise called Dragger. There are puzzle pieces and you have to make a detailed puzzle. It gets very frustrating when you keep trying and you just can't quite get it.
From Enrich, that's it from me.

Sunday 16 March 2014

Hi, we're from Enrich!, We shouted into the Aurasma camera as Paul took the video.

Aurasma is an app for Apple and other android products. It is when you take a video then a picture of something. When you are on the Aurasma app, you focus the camera over the object that you took a photo of and it should play the video that you took. My group did one where we focused the camera over good behaviour picture and it played the video that was us saying, "Hi, we're from Enrich!".

We also went round the room finding Aurasmas. There was one that was One Direction on an Oreo packet and the video was about them loving Oreos and another one was Spiderman that played a video of Spiderman going around the town.

When I get home I am so going to get Aurasma on my iPod!

Stretching my thinking

Hello Blog Readers,
I'm back at Enrich and I couldn't wait to blog to all you people again. Today we did our thinker's keys. Today I did personal key with Nicola, which was great fun. We had a sheet to fill in to answer the questions. Then we had to change numbers around and that made the questions sound weird eg. I was worried about chocolate. We also had another session of Brain Boosters and I did "Wuzzles" with Nicola. Wuzzles means Word Puzzles put together makes............Wuzzles!!!!
Wuzzles was all about unscrambling anagrams which were compound words. It was good to be pressured and to feel challenged.
Blog ya next week,
Tessa:)
